Who Calls Me in Martinez

A one-story house is about $250. Two-story homes start around $350 and go up from there. What moves the price is whether I can walk the roof. If the pitch is too steep and I have to move a ladder all the way around the house, the job takes a lot longer and costs more. If you add the gutters to a house wash on a one-story home, the gutter part comes down to about $150. You'll have the price in writing before I start.
The Cheap Gutter Guard Problem
On older Martinez homes I keep finding cheap gutter guards: plastic screens and foam inserts that were supposed to end the cleaning. They trap debris underneath where nobody can see it. I'll take them off so the gutters can be cleaned properly, but I won't put them back on, because I can't stand behind a product I know doesn't work. Buried Drain Lines
Some older Martinez homes tie their downspouts into underground pipe. With enough years and enough tree roots, that pipe collapses. The sign is water coming back up at the bottom of a downspout that's clear at the top. I'll point it out when I find it. Repairing it gets more expensive the older the system is and the more trees are around it, so it's better to know early.
Why the Report Matters on an Older House
Gutters on a house from the '70s or '80s have had fifty years of weather. A hanger that's pulled loose lets a section sag, water sits in the low spot, and the wood behind it starts to rot. Those are small fixes when they're caught. That's the reason I inspect and photograph instead of just blowing the gutters out and leaving.
